3 killed in Diwali-related incidents in Bihar districts

Three persons were killed and as many others injured in Diwali-related incidents in Bihar's Nalanda and Nawada districts, police officials said today.
A clash broke out among a group of gamblers in Silab bazaar locality under Rajgir police station of Nalanda district last night during which one of them fired from a weapon resulting in the death of two persons.
Those killed were identified as Vivek Singh and Lovely Singh, while another person received injuries, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjay Kumar said.
The bodies were sent for post-mortem and the injured man was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment in view of his serious condition, he said.
Kumar said that two persons have been arrested in this connection and two cartridge shells seized from the possession of one of the accused.
In a Diwali-related clash in Nawada district, a man was killed and two others were injured at Laund Bazar village under Sirdala police station area last night during firing following a tiff between local people and some policemen, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bhupendra Yadav said.
Some people in the area alleged the cops demanded gratification for allowing them to gamble.
The victim has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, the DSP said, adding the injured persons have been sent to PMCH for treatment.
Yadav said it was being investigated as to who opened the fire.
