Three suspected terrorists were killed when a bomb they were making accidentally exploded in a building in the congested Patel Para area, police said.
Bomb disposal officials said explosion was the result of between five to six kilogrammes of explosive material.
Batteries, ball bearings and nails - common elements used in home-made bombs - have been discovered from the scene.
One of the injured has been taken into custody for further interrogation, police said.
In another blast, Municipal Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan was targeted by a remote controlled bomb near the busy Hasan Square area, police said.
Khan was the target "but motives and causes of the attack yet to be investigated," he said.
