With the arrest of Ikrammul (19), Sheikh Ladla (21) and Mohd Munnawar (22), all hailing from Bihar, the police have claimed to have solved 12 cases of burglary, theft, robbery and snatching in which women were targeted.
The three, who allegedly belong to a gang, were arrested by a joint team of Malviya Nagar Police Station and Special Task Force, South District, which recovered five stolen mobile phones as well as house-breaking equipment from them.
The others in the gang are absconding and efforts are on to nab them and recover the stolen properties, police said.
"The team laid traps in the areas in which the gang was active and developed local intelligence. It was learnt that persons staying in the Hauz Rani area are involved in these crimes. Accused persons used to move outside on foot, in groups of four persons and commit snatchings and robberies.
During interrogation, it was learnt that the accused worked as labourers at construction sites during the day and committed snatchings and burglaries in nearby areas in late evening, police said.
They used to sell the stolen articles only to people known to them and did not sell anything in Delhi to avoid arrest, they said.
"All receivers of stolen items have been identified and efforts are being made to arrest them," they added.
