3 students among 5 killed in road mishaps due to fog in Pb,Hry

Five persons, including three college students, were killed in separate road mishaps in Punjab and Haryana due to poor visibility as dense fog shrouded parts of the two states affecting normal life.
Four students of a private university near Jalandhar were travelling in a car to catch a train from Phagwara railway station when it was hit by a heavy vehicle on the Jalandhar-Phagwara highway, police said.
Three students were killed, while another was seriously injured in the accident. They all hailed from Hyderabad and Telangana and were in the 20-21 age group.
The injured student was admitted to a government hospital, a Punjab Police official said.

Two employees of a private company were killed and three injured in a jeep-truck collision today near Dhoki village in Haryana's Rewari district, Superintendent of Police, Rewari, Sangeeta Kalia said.
"The accident took place early today when the visibility was low due to fog," she said.

The weatherman said fog reduced visibility at many places including Chandigarh, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Karnal, Panipat, Gurugram and Faridabad and affected rail, road and air traffic in the region.
Several trains were reported running late due to poor visibility.
Chandigarh recorded a low of 9.9 degrees Celsius, Ambala 11.6 degrees, Karnal 10.2 degrees and Hisar 10.3 degrees Celsius, the MeT department said.

Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala in Punjab registered respective minimum temperatures of 6.8, 10.4 and 11.4 degrees Celsius.
