The student spilled the beans after he was caught cleaning a blood stained knife at a tank near the old bus stand here by police.
The body of his friend was found at a theatre early this morning following which police launched an investigation and zeroed in on him.
The 21-year-old, studying in the government arts college here, also told police he had murdered and disposed of the body of an autorickshaw driver on March 30 near a bushy area for the same reason.
