4-day conference on neurology to begin tomorrow in Chandigarh

Top neurologists from across the country and the world will participate in a four-day conference beginning here tomorrow.
The 22nd annual conference of the Indian Academy of Neurology to be hosted by PGIMER, Chandigarh will have eminent speakers share recent advances and clinical experiences during deliberations covering a wide range of neurology disciplines.
PGIMER will be organising the conference after a gap of nearly two decades, the event's organising secretary and head of PGIMER's neurology department Vivek Lal said here today.
International faculty who will be taking part in the conference include Dr Raad Shakir, President of the World Federation of Neurology (WFN), besides neurologists from UK, USA, Germany, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Those taking part from around the country include P Satish Chandra, Director, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience, Bangalore; Kamleshwar Prasad, Head of AIIMS' Neurology Department and Mathew Alexander, Head of Neurology, CMC, Vellore.
According to Dr Manish Modi of PGIMER's Neurology Department, the conference, to be inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, will see participation from nearly 1500 neurologists.
The conference, in which more than 300 research papers will be presented, will start with continuing medical education programme on neuro-ophthalmology, the branch which deals with inflammatory disorders of the optic nerve and disorders of vision secondary to eye and brain diseases.
Experts in the field will be discussing about the approach and management of visual disorders.
With Tuberculosis affecting a large part of India's population, Lal said complications of bacterial infections of nervous system will also be deliberated in the conference.
