"Four persons died and four others were injured in the incident due to heavy rains lashing the region since Saturday. A total of 179 houses got damaged due to rains. Moreover, 100 cattle were washed away in flash flood," said Ranjit Rajput, Acting District Information Officer, Nandurbar.
He said in last 24 hours ended this morning, 390 mm rain was recorded in Nandurbar district.
Due to heavy spell, water level in Gangapur dam, main source of drinking water to Nashik, rose to 47 per cent besides a substantial increase in water levels in various other reservoirs.
"Water level in Gangapur dam stands at 47 per cent now while water level in Darna dam (in the district) is 66 per cent. While 22,000 cusecs of water was released in Godavari river, 9175 cusecs of water from Darna dam since yesterday," according to a release from Weather department here today.
Godavari river, which runs through Nashik, is in a full spate and flood water has submerged many temples located on its banks.
In Igatpuri taluka in Nashik district, 20 people trapped in flood water at Tarangpada Pimpri hamlet were rescued today, the release stated.
"Nashik taluka has so far recorded 61 per cent rainfall, followed by Baglan (54 per cent), Sinnar (51 per cent), Peth (25 per cent), Malegaon (22 per cent)," it added.
