The Crime Branch of Delhi Police on specific inputs arrested the four drug peddlers who were trying to deliver marijuana and charas (cannabis based narcotics) for consumption in Delhi, police said.
"We arrested Vinod and Sapan Rai who used to bring ganja (marijuana) by road from Odisha and supply it in Delhi. They were caught carrying 200 kg ganja in an SUV, at a bus stand near Yamuna Bank Depot Metro station," said Joint Commissioner (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
In the second operation, two accused Alok Kumar and Uma Shankar, both residents of Azamgarh in UP, were arrested with 5 kg of charas at Club Road in Punjabi Bagh. They had obtained the drug from Nepal and smuggled it into India and were delivering it in Delhi, Yadav said.
All the four were booked under various sections of NDPS Act and further investigation was on to unearth the entire network.
This is the sixth catch of drugs in the past five days of the ongoing operations by the Narcotics Cell of the Crime Branch, Yadav added.
