"The state transport bus was going to Kurla from Shirur. When it reached the Chakan-Talegaon Road, a heavy container of a courier firm collided with the bus while crossing divider line near Malwadi village," said DSP Vivek Pansare.
As per initial information, four persons were killed and 33 passengers, 15 of them women, sustained injuries, said the official.
"The injured were rushed to the nearby hospitals. A case was registered against the driver of the container vehicle, who is currently at large, under sections of 304 (A) (death cause by negligence) of IPC," he said.
