4 killed, 8 injured as jeep falls into gorge in Uttarakhand

Four persons were killed and eight were injured when the jeep in which they were traveling fell into a gorge at Masasu village in Pauri district here today, police said.
The mishap took place in the afternoon while the jeep was on its way to Pauri, Pauri Superintendent of Police Ajay Joshi said.
Four persons were killed on the spot, while the injured victims were admitted to a hospital at Patisain, he said.
Prima facie, it appears that the mishap was caused due to the driver's negligence who got down from the vehicle to load more passengers while its engine was still on, he said.

Moments after the driver got down to load more passengers, the vehicle rolled down the sloping road and fell into the gorge, the SP said.
Rescue teams recovered the bodies with the help of locals, he said.
