4 PTCUL officers suspended for buying low quality transformers

Four senior officials of the Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (PTCUL) were suspended while another one was transferred in connection with a probe into buying of low quality electric transformers.
In 2015, the four transformers were bought at a cost of Rs 24 crore. However, during preliminary inquiry those were found to be of low quality, managing director of PTCUL S N Verma said today.
Following this, chief engineer Ajay Agrawal, superintending engineers Rajesh Gupta and Rakesh Kumar and executive engineer Lakshmiprasad Purohit were suspended from their posts yesterday, Verma said.
The matter in being investigated in detail and the probe report is expected in a month, the managing director said, adding Chief Engineer (buying and contract) Anil Kumar Yadav has been transferred to Haldwani so that he cannot influence the probe.

After the BJP formed government in Uttarakhand last month this the second major probe into corruption charges in the state.
A few days back four Sub-Divisional Magistrates were suspended in connection with around Rs 240 crore corruption charge in land acquisition for building a national highway.
