4 sandalwood trees smuggled out of compound of pvt guest house

Five fully grown sandalwood trees were cut and smuggled out of the campus of a private guest house here by a five member gang after they threatened the two security guards at knife point, police said.
The gang, armed with axes, mechanised saws and sickles, gained entry into the campus on a main road early this morning threatened the two guards and then cut and smuggled out the 10 year-old trees within an hour, police said.
However, they left some logs behind.
Based on the deposition of guards, police said they suspect the gang members to be tribals.
The exact value of the trees is yet to be ascertained, they said.
