Roshan, the child, is alive, and is being given food through a pipe, district Superintendent of Police Anshuman Singh told PTI over phone from the spot around 10 pm today.
Oxygen is also being pumped into the borewell, he said, adding that an Army team is helping with the operation.
The area is 110 km away from the district headquarters.
A parallel hole has been dug close to the borewell and now a tunnel is being drilled to connect the two so that the child can be pulled out, the SP added.
The boy fell into the borewell around 11 am while playing in the field where the borewell is located.
