A 4-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 30-year-old cousin in the Chawani Ramchanderapura area here, police said.
The accused Ranjeet Valmiki, who is a father of four children, has been arrested and booked under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act for the alleged offence committed yesterday, they said, adding that he will be produced before a magistrate today.
Ranjeet, a resident of Chawani Ramchandera Pura, took the girl from his neighbourhood to a nearby college ground on the pretext of giving her chocolates and raped her there behind the bushes, said Station House Officer of Vigyan Nagar police station Amar Singh Rathor.
A passerby heard the cries of the minor girl and saw that the accused was beating her to stop her cries, said SHO Rathor, adding that the passerby then called the police and some of his friends.
A medical test has been conducted on the victim, but the report is awaited, said SHO Rathor.
A medical taste was also conducted on the accused as he was in a drunken state at time of his arrest and was beaten by people who had gathered there.
A case has been registered on the complaint of the passerby who had informed the police, Rathor said.
The victim lives with her grandmother as her parents, who are daily wages labourers, work in Jaipur, police said.
In another case of rape registered with the same police station, a woman has complained that a 40-year-old man allegedly raped her at his house in Anantpura area here and he was helped by his wife in the crime.
Following the verification of the complain, accused Mohammed Ali has been arrested. He was produced before a court yesterday from where he was sent to judicial custody, said Rathor.
Rathor said, the victim posted a registered complaint to Inspector General (IG), Kota, and SP four days ago.
In the complaint, the victim has alleged that on September 29, Ali's wife Farida, who is her friend, took her to their house on the pretext of providing her an accommodation. But, there, her husband Ali raped her, Rathor said, adding that Farida is absconding.
