Mahila Court Judge Meena Sathish sentenced M Dharmakrishnan to four years of RI under section 8 of Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.
According to the prosecution, Dharmakrishnan, engaged in the business of supplying purified water cans, sexually assaulted the class VIII student, who was living with her grandmother near his shop, on April 12, 2013.
He then threatened her that he would kill all her family members by mixing poison in water if she told anyone about the incident.
