"During this season till today, 458 positive cases of dengue have been reported from entire Haryana, out of which 259 patients have been discharged," Vij said.
Asked which was the worst affected district this time, he said 192 dengue cases have been reported from Ambala.
"Fortunately, no dengue death has been reported from anywhere in the state so far," he added.
Vij said 80 cases of chikungunya have been reported in the state during this season till date.
"Last year, we had large number of dengue cases. But the situation is comparatively under control this time. If we look at our neighbouring states, dengue cases in Punjab are much higher, while Delhi is the worst affected," he said.
Vij said he had convened a meeting of various departments in April during which a strategy was drawn to combat diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya, in an effective manner.
Stressing that various departments, including civic bodies, need to work in tandem to keep the diseases at bay, he said, "As far as the Health Department is concerned, we have to see to it that patients who come to hospitals and health institutions are cured and sent back home.
