"The woman, a housewife was allegedly tortured and abused by her father-in-law, mother-in-law and husband on suspicion of her character. She was driven out of the family a fortnight ago for delivering a girl child, who was dark in complexion, last year," an official of the Mira Road police station said based on her complaint.
"The victim, who was being harassed from November 2014, along with the child returned to her parents," he said.
Earlier, the family had forced the woman to abort her first child, the officer said.
A case under relevant sections of IPC was yesterday registered against the trio, he said, adding no arrests have been made so far.
