The five were arrested when police on a routine vehicle check spotted them travelling in the car of the deceased at Valliyur. The accused had planed to sell the car.
Under the pretext of hiring his services, they had asked Arumugakutty to take them to Tisaiyanvilai. However, during the journey, they attacked and murdered him using sharp edged weapon, police said.
They dumped the body of Arumugakutty under a bridge near Tisaiyanvilai and escaped.
