Five persons were arrested for allegedly providing fake visas to job seekers on the pretext of getting them jobs abroad in east Delhi's Shakarpur area, the police said today.
A complaint was received from the Ministry of External Affairs on September 27, saying that a company in the name of Fine Tours and Travels is running a racket of providing fake visas and duping innocent people, they added.
Following which various teams were constituted to nab the accused, the police said.
During investigations, it was also confirmed from the Ministry of External Affairs Overseas Employment Division that this company was not registered under Section 10 of the Emigration Act 1983 (no person to function as recruiting agent without a valid certificate), they said.
The police also managed to trace down two prospective job seekers -- Deepak Kumar and Saurabh Mishra -- who had been lured by the agency and cheated by issuing fake visa certificates on the pretext of providing job in Singapore, they added.
On the basis of a tip-off, Arun Kumar (33), Rahul Tyagi (27), Vinod Kumar(31), Narender Singh (30) and Mohit (30) were arrested here last night, the police said.
They used to charge a hefty amount against the services, they said, adding that they were mulling to close down their office because they had apprehensions that police has got to know about their fake business.
