Jaswinder Singh was allegedly kidnapped by five persons from Thakkar Sandhu village last night, DIG Border Range AK Mittal said here.
In a complaint filed by the victim's brother Sukhwinder Singh, he identified two abductors, including one Surjan Singh.
During a search operation, a police team intercepted a car near Tattle village following which its occupants fired at them, injuring home guard jawan Ramesh Kumar and managed to escape.
A police party led by SSP Batala Inderbir Singh then launched a search operation in and around Tattle village and rescued Jaswinder Singh from a car.
Further investigations are on, police said.
