The Tunceli governor's office said today the rebels of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, attacked government buildings in the province with rocket-propelled grenades, triggering a clash that killed a police officer and two militants.
The state-run Anadolu Agency said the rebels also fired at police outside a hospital in nearby Sanliurfa province late yesterday, killing two officers.
Meanwhile, 10 policemen and 14 civilians were injured when the rebels detonated an improvised explosive device as a police bus passed by in Mardin province, Anadolu reported. Renewed fighting with the PKK has killed dozens of people since July, mostly police and soldiers.
