The officials of the voluntary section of the Civil Defence department have been removed from their positions following grave charges against them of misuse of authority, Inspector General of Civil Defence Uttar Pradesh Amitabh Thakur said.
Addressing a press conference, he said that charges against the officials have been inquired into and found to be correct.
Among the charges were those of land grabbing and "acting as tout of administrative officials", he said.
One of the removed officials had threatened the officer who had initiated action against him, he said, adding, SSP Agra has been asked to take action against him for threatening a government servant.
A civil defence website has been launched and applications for various inquires could be made on it, he said.
