The fishermen were later produced in a court and remanded to custody till July 7.
They were stranded in mid-sea off Velvettithurai coast after their boat developed a snag when they were rescued by the Sri Lankan fishermen, Joint director of fisheries, Subbraj told PTI.
The fishermen, all of whom are from Vedranyam hamlet, were later taken to the army camp at Velvettithurai, he said.
They were produced before a court in that town and remanded to custody till July 7, he said, adding that they are now lodged in a jail in Jaffna.
