The incident took place around 2 AM when the policemen were busy issuing challan to a truck for violation of traffic rule. A car came at high speed and hit the barricade injuring the Delhi Traffic Police constables -- Pradip, Vinit Kashyap, Narendra Datta, Vinit and Hem Chandra, said a senior police officer.
They were rushed to the trauma centre of a hospital in Civil Lines area, from where Pradip, Vinit Kashyap and Narendra Dutta were shifted to Max Hospital this morning.
Delhi Traffic Police has been carrying out special drives to curb traffic rule violations during night hours.
The accused car driver, Dinesh Sharma, a resident of Rohini, has been arrested.
Sharma was returning from a trip to Vrindavan, along with his wife and son. He told the investigators that he failed to see the policemen leading to the accident.
