Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar said there was information that a vehicle was moving with a consignment of illegal weapons near Ghorghat village under Bariyarpur police station.
"We dispatched police teams to the area. The personnel noticed the suspicious vehicle and stopped it for checking," Kumar said.
Two packets containing 25 good-quality pistols each were recovered from Murshid Mian and Rishidev Kumar, who were in the vehicle, he said.
It seemed the arms were being taken to be supplied to other parts of the country.
