The Yamuna river turned into a stream of stars on Diwali as 51,000 eco-friendly lamps, made of flour, were floated by devotees at the Brmhand Ghat here.
"For the occasion 51,000 echo-friendly half-baked lamps made from flour were used. The lamps were filled with ghee and cotton wick was dipped in them," Swami Sarupanand of Karshni Ashram Raman Reti said.
Under the night sky the lamps looked like stars were floating on the Yamuna River, he said, the flour-lamps also served as food for fish and tortoise.
