51 trains cancelled, 19 running late due to dense fog

Dense fog that engulfed the northern region today created disruption in train services with 51 regular services getting cancelled and 19 trains delayed by two hours to five hours.
According to Northern Railway, 19 Delhi-bound trains including premier services like Howrah Duronto, Sealdah Duronto and Kanpur Shatabdi were running late by several hours due to bad weather condition.
There were cancellation of total 51 trains including those announced earlier to remain cancelled during the fog.
Northern Railway spokesperson said steps are taken to assist passengers during the fog.
While our inquiry system has been strengthened to help passengers in giving train position, more counters have been opened for making cancellations, he said adding round the clock maintenance of coaches have been made to reduce delays due to fog.

He said adequate safety measures in train operations have been taken keeping the bad weather in mind.
