A police team intercepted the vehicle at Golden Jubilee Hospital near Akkayyapalem on a tip-off and found that it was transporting the banned product.
"Police seized 540 kgs of 'Safari' gutkha worth Rs 8 lakh and apprehended driver of of the van, identified as S.Sekhar, a resident of Hyderabad," stated a release.
The seized contraband was handed over to the concerned authorities for further action.
