An spokesperson of Election department said out of 593 nominations filed by candidates in 61 constituencies, 31 were rejected, but scrutiny of two candidates in Nalbari and Kamalpur have been withheld.
Of the total contestants, 515 are men and 47 women.
For the second phase of polling on April 11 for 61 constituencies of the 126-seat Assam Assembly, the last date for withdrawing the nominations will be March 26.
For the polling on April 4 for the first for 65 seats, 539 candidates remained in the fray after final scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations.
