"An information was received that one Tanveer Hussain of Nerojal, a student of Degree College, Rajouri, fell unconscious and was shifted to district hospital, Rajouri," a senior police officer said.
Upon reaching the hospital, he was declared brought dead by the doctors, he said.
A police team reached the hospital in Rajouri and as the doctors were abut to conduct formalities before handing over the body, some fellow students and others took the body out of the hospital and placed it on the road at Kheora Chowk. They alleged non-availability of ambulance for shifting the body from the hospital and started protesting against the administration, the officer said.
However, contrary to the procedure which is required to be adopted in case of death in hospital where the legal formalities are to be conducted before handing over the body to the relatives of the deceased, some miscreants had also assembled in the hospital and wanted to blow the issue out of proportion. They instigated the students to resort to stone pelting on police and civil administration resulting in injuries to six police officials and two civilians beside damaging the district hospital, the officer said.
A case has been registered at Police Station, Rajouri, and an investigation is underway, he said.
