During a routine patrolling early this morning along the border outpost, jawans noticed suspicious activities by alleged Pakistani smugglers, BSF Punjab Frontier DIG, R S Katariya said.
The smugglers ignored the security personnel when they were told to halt. But when the jawans opened fire, they fled from the spot taking benefit of the darkness, he said.
BSF personnel searched the spot and seized three packets of heroin, each containing two kg of the drug, worth around Rs 30 crore in the international market, he said.
This year, the BSF has recovered 219 kg heroin along the International Border area from across the state.
