One injured in scuffle near Jammu Press Club

One man was injured in a scuffle that broke out near the premises of a press club here, during which a person allegedly misbehaved with a foreigner and later tried to crush a group of guests, police said today.
"Two parties had come to the (Jammu) Press Club for dinner and later one man allegedly misbehaved with the wife of a local resident who is a foreigner. This resulted in a scuffle between the two parties last night", a police officer said.
He said the scuffle continued in the parking area of the club, following which the accused while running from the spot tried to hit and crush the other party with his car in which a man, Suresh was injured.
"He was shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment", the officer said.
He said that the police has registered a case and started investigations into the case. No arrests have been made so far, he added.
Condemning the incident, Secretary General of Jammu Press Club, Zorawar Singh told PTI that one member along with guests including a woman had come to the Club for dinner.
After leaving the club, another member alleged misbehaved with a foreigner resulting in the scuffle, he said.
"It is unfortunate such an incident has taken place. We are probing the incident and will take strict action in this case", he said, adding, such incidents will not be tolerated although they have taken place outside the club premises.
