The accident occurred when a vehicle ferrying a number of camels came in the way of the passenger bus. One of the animals jumped in front of the bus and its driver lost control, causing it to flip over at the eastern desert road of Bani Suef city, according to medical and security officials.
Around 50 passengers were on board the bus when it met with the accident, officials said, adding that some of the injured people are said to be in critical condition.
Egypt has one of the world's highest accident rates owing to careless driving and poor road and vehicle conditions.
The World Health Organization ranks Egypt world's 10th worst country in terms of road mishaps.
