Sources said the operation was conducted along the Cherla-Kistarm area in the bordering Khammam district along the dense forests of Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
"One alleged Naxalite has been killed in the operation while six others have been apprehended," a senior official said.
A joint operation by involving a strong squad of close to 300 troops was launched in this axis by the CRPF, the special counter-Naxal force of AP 'Greyhounds' and state police forces of both the states early today.
The location where the operation was conducted today is notorious for the movement of armed Maoist cadres and the polls here are scheduled on April 10 and during some later phases.
