Sixty people of backward Bru tribe of Tripura, who were trained by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) today got placement in different companies, officials said.
Industries and Commerce Department (Skill Development) distributed offer letters to the first batch of 60 trainees of Bru tribe at a placement ceremony here to the candidates trained under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
M Nagaraju, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department (Skill Development) distributed the offer letters.
The project aims to train a total of 300 candidates of which 120 are currently being trained, whereas 60 candidates have already completed their training, Nagaraju told reporters.
Manish Kumar, MD and CEO of NSDC, who was also present in the ceremony said, "We made a great effort towards ensuring 100 per cent captive placement to the first batch of 60 candidates in order to make our pilot project on skill development of Bru tribe a success.
Each and every student trained in the pilot phase will work as an ambassador for us, who will motivate more students to take up skill training under Skill India Mission and move out of relief camps, he said.
In this endeavour, we want to formalise this event which will help mobilise Bru tribe people from Tripura to other parts of country and help them earn a better livelihood, Kumar added.
