There are 41 cases of fake caste certificates under investigation while probe has been completed in 20 such cases, Minister of Sate for Railways Rajen Gohain said in a written reply.
Standing instructions have been issued that each officer assigned the responsibility of recruitment or maintenance of service records of employees should ensure that SC/ST certificates issued by the civil authorities are properly checked, he said.
If any discrepancy is noticed in such certificates, it should be immediately brought to the notice of the civil authorities for necessary action, he added.
