A total of 660 pharmaceutical companies have registered with the government's pharma data bank till date and 58,027 product details have been entered in the system, Parliament was informed today.
"As on date, 660 pharmaceutical companies have registered in the Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management System (IPDMS) and 58,027 product details have been entered," Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Mansukh Lal Mandaviya said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
He added that a large number of companies have still not registered their products nor filed all mandatory returns online.
A general notice was issued to all the companies on June 10, 2016, followed by specific show cause notice to 88 top companies in June-July, 2016, directing them to file mandatory forms online in IPDMS, Mandaviya said.
IPDMS was launched in 2014 as a comprehensive online system providing a platform to all pharma companies. When fully operationalised, IPDMS will be a useful tool for collection of data and information and for monitoring and analysis of data for industry, consumers and the regulator.
Through IPDMS, data on production, import and pricing of scheduled and non-scheduled formulations can be assessed, analysed and used to generate reports.
Online submission of data in IPDMS is mandatory for all pharmaceutical manufacturing and marketing companies under DPCO 2013.
IPDMS is an initiative of Department of Pharmaceuticals and NPPA.
