The Transport Department had recently delegated powers of suspension of permits for violations by commercial vehicles under relevant sections of Motor Vehicles Act to Magistrates of Revenue Department.
The Revenue department officials conducted the enforcement drive, at over 100 locations in the capital, with the assistance of civil defence volunteers, officials of Transport Department and Delhi Police.
"By the end of the day, almost 2,000 vehicles of various categories including auto-rickshaws, tempos, e-rickshaws, grameen seva vehicles and RTVs etc were inspected and 660 put to notice for violation of various permit conditions," a senior official said.
Secretary (Revenue) and Divisional Commissioner A Anbarasu said that Revenue Department would regularly continue with these measures as well as enforcement of Motor Vehicles Act through special drives.
