The championship will be organised jointly by the Swimming Federation of India (SFI) and Gujarat State Aquatic Association (GSAA), which will be hosted jointly by the Rajkot District Swimming Association (RDSA) and Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC).
"Over 700 participants from various part of the country are taking part in the championship which would be hosted first time by Rajkot," Commissioner of Rajkot Municipal Corporation, Vijay Nehra said.
Former Goa chief minister Digambar Kamat, who is also president of SFI, Indian Olympic committee member Virendra Nanavati and Secretary of SFI Kamlesh Nanavati will remain present at the inaugural ceremony to be held tomorrow at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Swimming Pool located on Kothariya road area.
The championship is important for the participants because the Indian swimming team for the Brazil Olympic would be selected on the basis of the participants performance in this event.
