Seven insurgents of three outfits were arrested in joint operations in Assam while two other members of another rebel organisation surrendered in Meghalaya today, an Army spokesman said.
Two ultras of NDFB (Songbijit), two members and as many linkmen of the Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers (KPLT), and one Muslim Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) cadre were arrested from various parts of the state.
Army troops of the Red Horn Division along with Assam Police personnel apprehended these cadres including senior commanders in different operations.

In the first operation at Barshijhar area of Chirang district, two hardcore NDFB(S) extremists Bilifang Brahma and Khumpu Brahma were arrested.
Bilifang was involved in grenade lobbing on the Panabari Army Camp in Chirang district last year.
Both Bilifang and Khumpu were accused in several cases of murder, kidnapping and extortion, the spokesman said.
One .303 rifle, one country made rifle and other warlike stores were recovered from them.
