The incident occurred when the jeep carrying pilgrims returning from Chandrikan Devi after performing a religious ceremony was hit by the truck head on near Gadwaripur village, IG (law and order) B P Singh told reporters here.
He said seven passengers travelling in the jeep died on the spot and three others were seriously injured. They were admitted to the hospital.
The truck driver escaped from the spot leaving behind the vehicle, he said.
