Thunderstorm and lightning claimed seven lives and injured five people in Lohardaga, Pakur and Chatra districts of Jharkhand since Sunday, police said today.
A 65-year-old woman and her grand daughter were killed this evening in Lohardaga district when lightning struck them at Tati village, they said.
The woman and her grand daughter were in their vegetable field when thunderbolt struck them, killing the woman on the spot and her grand daughter succumbed to her injuries while being rushed to a nearby health centre.
One person was killed while his wife was injured when the wall of their mud house collapsed and fell on them during rain and thunderstorm at Kanijhara village in Pakur district last night, the police said.
On Sunday, four people were killed and as many injured in two separate incidents in Chatra district, the police said, adding that three people lost their lives and three injured when lightning struck them at a house in Harhad village during heavy rains.
In another incident in the Chatra district, one person was killed and another injured in Pahra village when thunderbolt struck them on Sunday night, the police added.
