The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) in its standing committee meeting today discussed the issue of parking fee charged at malls and hospitals.
Over 70 per cent malls and hospitals under SDMC have allowed free parking facility following a public notice issued recently by the civic body, a municipal official informed the committee during the meet.
Standing Committee Chairman Radhe Shyam Sharma instructed municipal commissioner P K Goel and other officials concerned to serve notices to all malls and hospitals, falling under the corporation's area, so as to restrain all such entities who are still charging parking fee.
The officials, however, also said that certain vital points in connection with parking fee have been raised by a mall, which is being looked into before serving individual notices.
Paid parking at around 75 malls and hospitals falling in the SDMC's area was banned by the corporation from November 4.
The decision was taken in view of complaints that private parking facilities at malls and hospitals were charging "high fees" in the range of Rs 50-100 for such facilities.
