The woman was found with her hands and legs tied and face covered with a cloth on the first floor of the four-storeyed house, they said.
Chandramukhi Gulia's son, who lives on the third floor of the house with his wife and two children, found her dead this morning.
Police were told Gulia would ask him to switch on the water pump in the morning. Not hearing from her, the son went to check on his mother.
He found her dead with her face covered with a cloth and hands and legs tied, police said.
Household goods were lying scattered and almirahs were open. We are probing the incident from all angles, said police.
They will probe if the woman was killed by her family members over a property-related dispute.
The reason behind her death will be clear once the autopsy report is received. No external injuries were found on her body, police said.
The woman's husband had passed away a few years ago.
Her son Kuldeep is a yoga teacher and her two sons live abroad.
There is a shop on the ground floor of the house while the second floor is locked.
