77-year old sexual assault convict dies

A 77-year old man, serving a seven-year imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl in 2015, died in the government hospital here Friday due to age-related ailments, police said.

Subban of Sathyamangalam in Erode district, lodged in the central prison here, was admitted to the hospital earlier this week after he complained of uneasiness.

He died in the early hours Friday due to age-related illness, police said.

The man was convicted by a court for sexually assaulting a minor girl and sentenced to seven years imprisonment in 2016.
