During vehicle checking yesterday, police intercepted a truck at the Pilua checkpoint and seized 78 cartons of the illicit liquor, said ASP Sanjay Kumar.
The accused have been identified as truck driver Prakash of Bihar and his helper Jakir of Kotwali Dehat area. They also fired at the police party, he said.
A country-made pistol and a fake number plate along with two driving licence were also recovered from the truck, the ASP said.
On interrogation it was found that the supply of the illicit liquor was sent by a Pradeep Kumar of Panipat, he added.
