8 arrested for pilferage of building material

Eight employees of an infrastructure construction company were arrested in connection with the pilferage of building material here, police said today.
The company was constructing a 78km stretch of Ludhiana- Talwandi Bhai road, they said.
As per the complaint, atleast 35 truck loads of crushers and 50 tonne of bitumen were missing from the store at the Chuhar Chak near Ajitwal here, they said.
Arrested persons including the manager were sent to one day police remand by the court, police said.
Cash amounting to Rs 3.76 lakh was also recovered from the accused, they added.
