The committee, being run under the chairmanship of Chief Editor of Hind Samachar Group Vijay Kumar Chopra, every year felicitates organisations carrying out religious functions like 'Ramleela' and 'Jagrata' in the state.
"This year, 800 organisations have been selected and they have been given a memento each," Project Manager of the committee Virendra Sharma said.
"Three members of each of the 800 organisations, numbering to 2,400 people, were felicitated with a certificate and a bag," he said.
The bag contains some religious books, food items and some other things, Sharma added.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Sunil Jakhar and former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal were among the several leaders who attended the event.
