86 pc voter turnout in 6th phase of WB polls

Over 86 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the sixth and last phase of polling for the West Bengal Assembly election on Thursday.
In Cooch Behar district 86.05 per cent electorate had cast their votes, while in East Midnapore the figure was 87.17 per cent, Election Commission announced today.
The overall average in the sixth phase was 86.76 per cent for 25 seats in the two districts where 58 lakh people were enfranchised for the Assembly elections.
All the phases of the election have seen over 80 per cent turnouts. The fifth phase had recorded 81.66 per cent, fourth phase 81.25 per cent, third phase 82.28 per cent and second phase 83.05 per cent.

In the two parts of phase, one of polling held on April 4 and April 11, the final turnout was 84.22 per cent and 83.73 per cent respectively, according to the EC.
Results of the Assembly elections will be declared on May 19.
