865 Punjab cops promoted

The Punjab government today promoted 865 police personnel of various ranks.
Of the 865 police personnel promoted, 40 are SPs, 125 DSPs, 200 inspectors, 250 sub-inspectors and 250 ASIs, an official spokesman said here today.
He said to improve the quality of police response, the government will roll out many initiatives, including the Rural Rapid Police Response System under which police assistance would be made available in villages and remotest rural areas within less than 20 minutes.
Safe City Project in Ludhiana and Amritsar and senior citizen helpline are some other measures which would soon be implemented in the state.
